Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the role model for all Muslims. He is our example to follow in observing worship, diligence in devoutness to God and making use of the time in getting close to Allah.
Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: “The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to strive more in worship during Ramadan than he strove in any other time of the year; and he would devote himself more (in the worship of Allah) in the last ten nights of Ramadan than he strove in earlier part of the month.” (Muslim)
As the month of Ramadan is the best season of the year in terms of worship and getting close to God, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would give it more concern and care than he gave to any other month.
However, when it is the last ten days of Ramadan, the case is completely different. He (peace be upon him) would do his utmost in getting close to God and performing the acts of worship.
`Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) said: “With the start of the last ten days of Ramadan, Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would pray all the night, and would keep his family awake for the prayers. He tied his lower garment (i.e., avoided sleeping with his wives) and devoted himself entirely to prayer and supplication.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)
