Allah, the Almighty, sent Messengers to people to convey His guidance to them and make those people a model for people to copy after them. The lives of the messengers were an open book for people to take lessons from them in the different dimensions of their life. Allah (Glory be to Him), after mentioning 18 of the Prophets by name, commands the believers to take those messengers as examples to follow and benefit from their guidance. He says,
Those are the ones to whom We gave the Scripture and authority and prophethood. But if the disbelievers deny it, then We have entrusted it to a people who are not therein disbelievers. Those are the ones whom Allah has guided, so from their guidance take an example. (Al-An`am 6:89-90)
The Qur’an states that the goal of relating stories of the messengers with their people is to derives lessons from them and take the warning from the fate of those who rejected the call of their Prophets. God says,
There was certainly in their (the Prophets and their people) stories a lesson for those of understanding. Never was the Qur’an a narration invented, but a confirmation of what was before it and a detailed explanation of all things and guidance and mercy for a people who believe. (Yusuf 12:111)
Among the great Prophets is Ayyub (Job, peace be upon him) who was one of the richest and healthiest persons among his people. Allah (Glory be to Him) tested him with diseases until he reached a bad state of sickness, poverty and isolation. Prophet Ayyub (peace be upon him) and his righteous wife provided great examples of unbelievable situations in infinite patience and immense satisfaction of Allah’s destination.
Enjoy watching this video which relates the story of Prophet Ayyub and his wife and how they underwent all the troubles without showing any weariness or dissatisfaction against the destination of Allah. The fruit of learning about the stories of the early Prophets and righteous people is to take lessons from their life to make use of them in one’s life.
